Having worked in both the print editorial and retail sides of the fashion industry, I can attest to how important a role patience plays in maintaining one’s sanity. Wait…before you assume that this is the start of an unnecessary rant, trust me, I am headed in a direction worth your time and attention. As a magazine editor, you are often focused on stories three-to-four months ahead of their release date and in retail you are surrounded by lust-worthy clothing and accessories that won’t be available to consumers or your personal use for seasons to come.
Despite the years spent waiting to feel the gratification of seeing my hard work come to life on glossy pages and securing the coats, shoes, and handbags that I dreamed about wearing after seeing them on the runway and trying them on in a showroom appointment as if they were my own, I have yet to grasp the true concept of patience. So, as we enter the final stop on the fashion month world tour, it should come as no surprise that I have already compiled a hefty wishlist of items that I fantasize about adding to cart right now and wearing tomorrow.
From Blumarine’s perfectly cropped shearling coat to a Gucci body chain that harkens back to the Italian house’s Tom Ford era to a Versace look that has left my mouth agape (in a good way) since the show last Friday, peep my most wanted items below. And you can be sure this list will double, if not triple, after the Paris shows—Balenciaga, Acne Studios, Courreges, Marine Serre—I am waiting not so patiently, for you.
1. Blumarine Shearling Coat
Aside from it being painfully chic, this coat, I imagine, would have made the painfully cold winter a bit less unbearable.
2. Blumarine Cut-Out Jeans
It’s no secret that I am a sucker for the “not-your-average jean”, so when I saw these grace the Blumarine runway my brain automatically generated 10-plus ways to wear them now and forever.
3. Gucci Body Chain
There are no words for how undeniably chic this horse bit body chain is. That is all.
4. Gucci Logo Leggings
I love a sparkle and these logo GG leggings would look so cool under denim cut-off shorts paired with a leather jacket and worn on repeat.
5. Diesel Jeans
When it comes to interesting fabric and imaginative denim, Diesel has been a front-runner. I love how this pair looks almost leather-like and they would be easy to throw on with everything from a graphic t-shirt to a shearling jacket.
6. Diesel Bag
What’s not lust-worthy about a pink, pony hair bag? This was just one of the standouts on the Diesel runway and I wish I could snatch it right out of the model’s hand.
7. Versace Full Look
This, hands down, is my favorite look of the season thus far. It is pure proof that Donatella is a master of dressed-up denim and evening wear that is cooler than James Dean. You heard it here first: I will wear this look one day.
8. Versace Top
Statement tops are hard to come by, and this one is definitely worth the investment. Whether paired with jeans a la the above, leather pants, or cargos, its potential cost per wear makes it even more enticing.
9. Versace Jeans
As a tried and true denim girl, you shouldn’t surprised to find more than one pair of jeans on this list. I can only imagine what the price tag of this embellished pair will be, but one thing is for sure: avoid going through a metal detector in this stud lover’s dream.
10. Dsquared2 Corset Top
The Dsquared2 show always taps into a nostalgia for the early 2000s and this season was no exception—we were even graced with an appearance by the early aughts supermodel Tyson Beckford clad in leather from head to toe. But it was this corset-meets-graphic-tee that caught my eye, as I would live in it (minus the puffy sleeves) from now through the summer.
11. Dilara Findikoglu Pants
Dilara Findikoglu is a true artist and her latest collection is a testament to her incredibly-unique aesthetic and overall vision. That being said, these pants are not just pants but a wearable work of art.
12. Khaite Leather Jacket
If spring comes early, I will be entering into my leather jacket wearing season, and this distressed Khaite number has my name all over it.
13. Dolce & Gabbana Full Look
According to Vogue.com, Dolce & Gabbana brought back the model-off-duty, cool girl look with their latest outing and I certainly agree. This combo of army green cargo pants, a chain belt, a lace cropped top and a fur-lined leather parka is exactly what I hoped to find in my closet the entire winter. I guess there is always next year.
14. GCDS Leather Cargo Pants
I have been searching for an oversized leather cargo pant for months. Thanks to GCDS, my search could be over. If only I could add to cart right now…
